Motorbike accident Questions and Answersmotorbike accident?Q) In 1999 my boyfriend had a really bad motorbike accident he split his pelvis in half which ended up with him having to have plates and screws fixed to help hold his pelvis together. we was just wondering if n e one would no if the plates and screws would eventually have to be removed.
what is unnecessary about that
he hit a car then a brick wall then ended up mangled around a lamp post no he is still is into bikes its me that tells him he cant have one as he now has 3 young children i wasnt with him when he had the accident i think he was about 24 when he had it
A) In there for good now.
Its no big deal. I have plates and screws in my right arm and my left leg.
Great scars to go with them aswell !compensation for loss of spleen in motorbike accident.?A) keep looking you may find itmy partner is on life support after a motorbike accident can anyone give me advice and support?Q) It happened last saturday, hes on a ventilator, im a nurse too so finding it hard to deal with,, does anyone have any advice or support
A) You just have to be there for your partner, that's all you can do.Be strong and brave.Would you be upset if you knocked down an idiot on a motorbike?Q) This morning, my partner and I pulled up to a roundabout. We were in the left hand lane to go straight on. Therefore, we weren't indicating. As we pulled away to go on, an idiot on a high powered motorbike, came up on the RIGHT of us, cut accross the front of us to within a foot causing us to do an emergance stop on a roundabout, and went LEFT.
This really shook my partner up and made her quite upset as to how close she came to a serious accident BECAUSE of this idiot.
I'm sorry, but the campaign for Think Bike is wrong. It should be targeted at the idiots who ride motorbikes and think they rule the road. I know it is not all but something is very wrong when us drivers are blamed for the motorbike accidents on the roads.
I wouldn't have been upset if we had knocked him down. It would have served him right.
This is great as a lot of people are moaning that we weren't indicating. Just how do you indicate to go straight on?? If we were going left, we would have indicated to go left. If we were going right, we would have been indicating to go right. If we were indicating to go left then went straight on, it would be our fault, but we weren't.
A) no i wouldnt have been upset as it sounds as though he is an idiot on the road. it would have been his fault. i am really against motorbikes as they are so dangerous and high powered when on the roads. I hope your partner isn t too shaken up by this xWould you be upset if you knocked down an idiot on a motorbike?Q) This morning, my partner and I pulled up to a roundabout. Oh for those people who are moaning about us 'not' indicating, if we were doing that, we would be going LEFT, not straight on as we were. So how do you indictae going straight on!!??
A) Far too many idiots on the roads these days, motorbikes, cyclists, car drivers.
There was no need for you to indicate as you stated, going straight on.
If you indicate whilst in the left lane and going straight on you’d only be confusing other motorists and there is no need as you aren‘t going ‘round‘ the island. I think it is good habit to indicate left to exit after you’ve passed the first left junction, but you hadn’t reached it so that would of made no difference! I’m also a signal Nazi.
It wouldn’t of been legally your fault in an ideal world. Would it in our world? I have no idea, I’d hope not. The only thing you could be criticised for was not checking your right hand mirror before pulling off which would of enabled you to see the motorcyclist, but even then, common sense would of dictated the motorcyclist beside you was either going straight on with you, or turning right, not about to cut in front of you.
Motorbikes generally have quicker acceleration than cars but that said, I think you’d have to have a complete death-wish to pull across someone like that on a motorbike.
I personally wouldn't like to see anyone hurt, regardless of their level of common sense, it doesn't matter because I know it'd be something that would bother me whether it was my fault or not.
Besides, I quite like the front of my car as it is!whats the most serious accident you ever had or witnessed.?Q) It was about 20 yrs ago when i witnessed a car and motorbike accident. The car was pulling out of a side street at the same time as the bike sped into the car and the bike and its rider were flipped into the air and landed over the other side of the road.It was absolutely shocking for all who saw because the male bike rider was twisted in such a funny shape,it made me feel sick.I dont know if he survived but it was heard from the paramedics at the road side that he had broken his back.It didnt look good thuough.I hope he did survive .POOR MAN he was only about 20.
A) abt 5yrs ago next to my house, a bus was on top of a minicab, it was sooo horrible, i've heard the sound of the crash, run outside with mum and bro and i could see the ppl in the cab full of blood, then when the ambulance came, they were pulling parts of the bodies ... it was the worse thing i've even seenwhy are their are so many motorbike accidents?A) i am a biker and have been since the 70s thats a long time
the bikes today are a hell of alot faster than yesteryear
there are 3 real main reasons there seem to be more bike smashes
people from the past dont realise that todays mc's when you pull back the throttle are faster, it takes seconds to hit 60 mph one bike i had it was 0 to 60 in 3 seconds, well the old bikes used to take a lot more time to hit high speeds, thats one reason,, so they open them up like the old bikes and to their shock they are doing 100mph b4 they know it,, and lose control because they havent ridden for years,, not been on bikes for years is another reason and the 3rd is that car drivers really dont look to see if the good old bikers are comming down the road
i know we should drive with more care thats cars drivers and bikers,,but sometimes you get the young dudes who seem to have no fear and the old dudes who havent ridden for years, it is these that are the high risk crash dudes,i am not having a go at them cuz i know what it is like,, however biking is really good fun and i think that everyone should have one, it makes people better drivers of cars as they realise what the roads really are like and what it is like to come off a bike and find out what and how hard that road is
i too drive cars and vans and am fully aware of road conditions , like slippery grids wet leaves, e t c but either way it is always sad to see and hear of bike accidents, alot of my fiends have died as a result of accidents and i quess alot of people will continue to die but like i said, biking is really the best way cheap,,econimacle and FUNIs anyone here as clumsy/accident prone as me?Q) Just Curious?
When I was 6 I was knocked down by a car and ended up with a fractured skull
When I was 10(ish) I had one of those Captains Beds with the desk and wardrobe under it, and I fell off the ladder and split my head open on a chest of drawers
When I was 14 I fell of my horse and severely injured my back
When I was 19 I fell off of a motorbike and ended up with a: concussion and b: a bruise on my leg so bad it lasted for 6 weeks and left a dent which still have 11 years later
When I was 22 I broke my knee during my karate lesson when a move went wrong and someone fell on me.
by the way this is only major accidents. I've lost count of how many times I've cut myself or fallen over in some way or had some other type of accident. I'm beginning to think I should go out wrapped in cotton wool.
A) I just fell off my chair answering this.unluckiest person of 2006?Q) i moved to Spain about 9 months ago on driving here i got mugged . i got a job as a tourist dolphin guide whilst on a trip a boat we used sank with 4 clients on board just off the coast the Estapona. it has never been recovered .the next one was i did some quite seriuos damage to my left foot when it got caught with a boat propeller during a launch of a different boat i was on crutches for 7 weeks also i had a bald moment when my fingers got caught in the blades of a fan and just before christmas i was involved in a motorbike accident in wich i crushed my right hand and 4 breaks in the arm. all these are true and i have documentation and medical reports to prove it. so am i unlucky or just accident prone. you guys decide cos i already know. hope you smile at this cos i am now
one last thing on leaving hospital even my wife laughed at this but i lit a fag and set fire to the padding on my plaster cast and had to go get it reset
A) All right. I admit, I am laughing, but I'm laughing and feeling pity at the same time. Better luck to you in 2007!
OK--The additional details you gave just totally cracked my up! Sounds like you need an exorcist or something! lol!Why do people get so emotional about killing animals for food and clothes?Q) As a species we have done this since day one. I think cows are brilliant creature's myself one particular animal donated it's skin to save mine during a motorbike accident.
So why would I want to become a vegitarian or vegan? I don't think there is the technology to turn carrots or sprouts into motorbike safety gear yet.
Before I go if you are a vegitarian / vegan can you drive a car? After all the fuels that run these infernal machines are all just the by products of rotting dead animals.
Don't think cows and chickens are close to endangerment - KFC and McD's are doing their bit to protect those species.
I can see how you were put of meat Miss Sherlit - hats off good argument.
From where my office is there is no lack of rain - it's monsoon season in southern China.
Avondrow like your answer good to see common sense.
I like your style anonymous - vegan motorcycle gear I have now seen it all :-)
A) I suppose because its a life choice in which we are asked to defend on a regular basis. You have a right to your view I have a right to mine. The truth is a vegan lfiestyle if done correctly is a much healthier choice for anyone. People who consume meat on a regular basis have a higher risk of suffering from many ailments. ( i am sure you know this) Thats not to say eating meat once a week is gonna kill you , but lets face it..in america (i dont know where you are from) meat isnt something people consume once a week. You are looking at a minimum of twice a day for most, in over portioned meals. I am sure alot of "meat eaters" can agree that too many people are gluttons. Besides all that, factory farming isnt exactly a natural act. We sure havent done that since day one!!! We actually havent consumed meat since day one. We evolved into it. There are so many things that we as humans do that cant really be justified when it comes to "nature". As for driving a car, ya, I drive one. Even my home is built with animal products, film in cameras..etc etc. The point is to reduce the amount of suffering the best way we can. In this age there is no possible way to avoid it. We all know this.
I dont really care what others think of me, if I was in an accident like you were, laying in an emergency room half conscious im not sure the first thing in my head would be "dont save me with anything coming from an animal!". I like that you acknowledge that animal and appreciate the fact it did save your skin.
It does make you wonder though, where we got off playing god and deciding that our lives were truly more important than any other living being on this planet. Is medicine really a good thing? Should we live to be 100? Should we cheat death repeatedly? We werent meant to live forever. As I said, there isn't much "natural" about us anymore. I think about it quite often actually. But that could go into a whole other subject which doesn't have much to do with the question at hand.
MM, anyhow thats my rant. :)
Motorbike accident - underinsured driver?Q) I was in a motorbike accident where the other party has been found at fault. The other party’s' 25k coverage barely covers my medical bill, lost wages and rental fee. I separated my shoulder in the accident. I have underinsured coverage up to 50k and am wondering if I can ask my insurance company for pain and suffering for my claim. This accident happened in CA.
A) Usually you can. The idea of UIM is to pay for ALL the damages that should have been paid by the other driver including pain and suffering. However you should probably involve a lawyer as it may take some tough negotiating to get your best deal. You will be suprised at how big a differance it makes, even after they take their fee.Motorbike Accident - Personal Injury - IME?Q) I was injured in a motorbike accident, and suffered a state 2 shoulder separation. My doctor after 12 weeks of physical therapy and two Cortisone shots is of the opinion that surgery might be the only option. I filed under my UIM and they want me to undergo a "independant medical exam" with a physician of their choice. I didn't get a laywer. Can I subpoena the doctor's records as in the link below, myself?
http://www.millerandzois.com/Independent-Medical-Exam-Subpoena.pdf
How can I ensure that the IME is fair and balanced?
A) Well you are just a FOOL if you don't get the attorney! The insurance company has attorneys working for them, so you need one working for you! You are going to cause yourself to get ripped off!!!met motorbike accident while going to office I was evading two jaywalkers suddenly criscrossing my path.?Q) when I step on my footbrake my motorbike felldown and l was dragged 4 meters away from the scene of the incident. l sustained bruises and l sparained my right ankle. after 3 days am now feeling pain in my chest every time l sneeze. what could be the cause of this?
A) Ask your doctor my friend...good luck with that.motorbike accident- when skidding across the pavement -?Q) is it best to slide on my butt and wear the skin off---- or to roll my whole body to reduce the scrape wounds ? which would make less injury ? what do professional bike riders do when they crash and slide?
A) If you find yourself with an actual choice choose to slide. If you go into a roll at speed you will not be able to keep your arms and legs tucked in and they will slap against the pavement repeatedly which will give you lots of broken bones. So slide.
Think "superman" or "sliding into third base" to get an idea of what your body position should be like. Get your body as long as possible in the direction you are sliding in to keep from rolling. Go ahead and drag your helmet on the ground, that's what it's there for.
As far as wearing the skin on your butt off - wear a good pair of leather or textile riding pants and you won't lose any skin. Denim will be burned through by the friction, buttless chaps are good for keeping your legs warm but not much else.
Sure, proper riding gear can be warm. But sweat washes off. Road rash doesn't.I had a motorbike accident 10 years ago. I still have the scar... What can i use to lighten the scar?A) Many Doctors offer laser and microderm abrasion at their offices. I worked for a doctor who did tatoo removal and the sort and got good results. These treatments can be a little expensive but you may want to look into it. I've seen good results on scarring also...It is a reletively painless procedure....Look up photoderm or laser skin techniques.my son had a motorbike accident....so painful his body bcuz of wounds. I dont have enough money for a car, I waste my money on taxi's + I could drive motorbikes good (not that good).
Could you tell me any wierd motorbike accident which happened to you so that I could be encouraged not to get one ?
Thank you
A) i used to be a police officer and i can tell you that we always dreaded being sent to a motorbike accident.
The problem with bikes is car drivers simply dont see them. if you are a car driver then you will know that there are always blind spots where the car pillars are on the front windscreen.
it is easy not to notice notice a bike because of this and the narrow image they present which is also usually dark and blends into the road. time after time a car will pull out in front of a bike. A bike rider can do his or her best to be noticed. with reflective and fluorescent jackets. keep your head light on at all times. but although these things help they dont stop the problem.
the next problem with a bike is if you come off you are very very venerable. of course you can wear protective clothing, though i think leathers in Egypt will be a bit uncomfortable and a helmet. These will help if the speed is not too high, but increase the speed to a mere 60KH and accident statistics show that death is more likely and believe me you dont want to know any more. Except for me to repeat that police officers do not like attending bike accidents.
If that doesn't put you off, my daughter is a nurse, and she says bike accident victims and far more likely to have serious problems after their accidents than car drivers.
if that doesnt put you off, go ahead....... live dangerously!Motorcycle Accident without license.?Q) I just got into a motorbike accident without a M Class license. I have a card to show that I have completed the course, and if I take the card to the DMV they will give me a motorcycle license. I did not have the card on me at the time of the accident, and now I have to go to court to fight the case. I am wondering if I need a lawyer, and if it will be hard to get this ticket dropped. Technically speaking I have a license, but I didn't have it on me at the time. What should I do? Any suggestions?
OK. I did get the certificate before the accident, and I don't have motorcycle insurance because it is not my bike and I didn't have a bike at the time. Will I still be OK? Should I go to court with the Driving Certificate, or should I go the DMV and get the M Class License made? Do you think I need a lawyer?
Oh yea, There was no damage to anything except the motorbike. No other vehicles were involved.
A) At this point, you are guilty of improper license classification. If you can show the date that you completed the course, and have your license corrected ASAP, you shouldn't have a problem in court. The only question is will your insurance be valid, at the time of the accident?
